Reduction sleeves
Reduction sleeves can be used to connect components and pipes with different threads. To make this possible, reduction sleeves have metric female threads in various sizes, which allow them to be used as adapters for structural parts with these nominal diameters. Thread reduction is also called fitting or thread fitting.
Reduction sleeves, also known as transition sleeves, reduction connectors, threaded adapters or reducers, are made of brass, steel, and other metals and are designed to withstand high pressures. They are not the same as the flexible reduction sleeves used for low-pressure water lines.
Colloquially, reduction sleeves are also called transition nuts, reducing sleeves, reducing nuts or reducers.

Reduction sleeves – applications
Whether in industrial plant engineering, in cooling and heating construction, for compressed air applications or in supply engineering: Thread fitting by means of reducers is a critical aspect of all kinds of pipe connections. Reduction sleeves from 2 inches to 1 inch, 1 to ¾ inch, ½ to 3/8 inch, and 1 to ½ inch are commonly used. Brass reduction sleeves are mainly used in the field of water technology but aren’t suitable for use in water containing salt and chlorine. In this case, stainless steel reduction sleeves are preferred.
